The Next 1000 Miles

What to Get Your Author for Xmas

Hint #1: It’s Free!!

Answer: A Review

It may not seem like much, but to Indies, it’s almost better than currency. A review or a rating on places like Amazon, GoodReads, a blog or any venue of social media is like seeing the storm clouds part and sun shinning directly on us. As an Indie, my name is not out there; I can’t get into chain book stores; and I have a fan base that consists mainly of friends and family for the moment. The only thing that will help me continue my passion is having more people interested.

Think of a new restaurant that’s opened in your town. If you went there and the food was somewhere between good and great, would you tell others? If you don’t, how will they know? Same goes for books on an almost secret society scale. There are so many to choose from, no one will ever see them without guidance or persistence. We need our readers help or we’ll surely wither away.

So, for Christmas, rate the books you’ve read. Save a writer!

The Next 1000 Miles

After the Journey

I’ve crossed the tape and caught my breath. As I look back at my journey, I can faintly see the speck On the horizon where I began. Nearly ten months ago, I embarked on a trek to find my own determination and persistence to do what I have always said I wanted to do.

How many people see their goals and go for it? How many out of those reach them? Expectation versus reality always becomes the mantra at this stage. I didn’t expect to make it here honestly. I thought the challenges would encompass me like a tidal wave. Instead, each new resistance made me angry. Mostly at myself, for even thinking of turning back. That helped me go farther.

Now that I’m here, I have lots of knowledge from my travels and I’d love to share them as I embark on…you guessed it…the next 1,000 Mile Journey. Sequels are in, aren’t they?

What to look for this week:

Nook release (they are being super slow and some hiccup has my book processing forever)

Kobo release – this is actually available now if anyone would like to get this version. Click Here

Official paperback release is on Wednesday! A special post will come out that morning!!

Next week, I will post helpful ideas for new Indie authors looking to publish for the first time and hopefully get some questions!

A Time to Reap

Hmmm, What Should I Buy?

THAT…is an excellent question. For most people, Friday screams payday! And I am certain that as most people, bills have to be handled and then you’re left over with some savings and “fun money.” You may not even realize what you want to buy.

Let me start off by saying this is an obvious ploy for me to persuade you to buy my book. Given. BUT, it is also an opportunity to realize how beneficial it would be. So, with that said, look at what costs more than my book:

  • Blended Coffees & Juices (Starbucks): Tall (which is small…) $3.25
  • Gallon of Milk: $3.48
  • Gallon of Fuel: $3.59
  • Meat (ground beef/steak/bacon/etc.) per pound: $3.38-5.33
  • Movie Ticket: $5 – 10
  • Tip on a Dinner Date: $4 – 15

See? I am willing to bet if you paid cash and kept the change from your ventures this weekend, you could afford my book. That said, it will last longer, never spoil, you could always re-gift/re-sell AND if you wanted the paperback and got it autographed, it would actually be worth more money down the road. Crap, I’m practically making you money with these offers.

But seriously, if you would like to pick up the book, you would ensure its sequel and continue to help my dreams to become a reality. Just click on the link in the picture below!

A Time to Reap

For Just Pennies…

Take a moment and think about the following story.

This is Jeffrey – Jeffrey S. Lee

He was born with a rare disease, called Dog Ear Disorder. Normally, these abnormalities occur internally from book to book. But Jeffrey was born out of the shipping box this way. It’s a crease formed went a page (or in this case, cover) is bent for extended periods of time.

Although Jeffrey’s case is unfortunate, he has the best outlook towards his long and fruitful life. Follow along as Jeffrey and I take on the world one page at a time. Look forward to more pictures with Jeffrey in the future.

If you yourself would like to adopt a book in need, please click on the link provided. For what amounts to just pennies a day, cases like Jeffrey’s can be overcome. There are countless numbers of these books simply looking for good homes with a Kindle, a Nook or any various e-Reader. Soon, they will be needing shelves or a coffee tables to rest upon.

A Time to Reap, Journey of 1000 Miles

A Time to Reap

Pemberton Academy is not just a school, it’s a gathering place for the children of the future that are afflicted with Temporal Displacement and Telepathy; in short, time travelers and mind readers who have been diagnosed with this “disease.” The Academy is not all as it seems after an explosion nearly takes one of its classmates, but not before Carter Gabel rescues her by using an unknown symptom related to his described illness. An unsanctioned group called the Program begins taking notice as the two classmates exhibit stronger abilities when they are together. Carter’s sense of reality begins to unwind as he learns more about his estranged father’s involvement with it all.

Carter will have to overcome the past of his father leaving, the present of an unknown adversary hunting him down and a future that seems to change with each decision he makes. He will have to learn who to trust out of the people in his life if he wants to conquer the looming notion that the government may be hunting him down because of his developing abilities.

Journey of 1000 Miles

It’s been a small amount of time since I’ve been able to blog. Mainly, I have over-indulged in the solitude of no longer having to coach softball anymore this summer. So…laziness. Plus, I didn’t have much that wasn’t empty blogger calories.

But, now I’m back on track and waiting for my finished product to be born. #Excitment One thing I have been working on is a synopsis. These. Things. Suck. Donkey-Butt. How can one write an entire book and still have no clue how to paraphrase it all in a catchy way? Hence my title, this part has left me constipated for days.

Luckily, I have my very own Literary Godmother, J.B. Salsbury aiding me with her wisdom and experience. With some effort, I have finally got a somewhat hang of it. Perhaps if my story wasn’t so diverse and ever-changing it will be easier?

Anywho, any one want to share a link to their own synopsis? Show me how these things are done.

Be Phenomenal

For all of us who have to wonder if we’ll make the next step:

Journey of 1000 Miles

At the High Dive

Okay, so I finished my edits and tweaks last week. Since then, I’ve been staring blankly at the forms I need for the formatting agency to start their portion. Remember those pesky, god-forsaken bees from months past? Well, now imagine being at the top of a high dive. Bees are in front of me and the ladder leading back down is behind.

Yup, it sucks. Still, I will be heard. Bees or not. I’m moving toward them and submitted the forms. Now I just wait to curl my toes around the lip of the diving board and prepare to plunge. The only thing concerning me is if I’ll get the response I hope. I love WordPress! I’ve met so many talented and freaking awesome individuals here, but the stats don’t make it seem like there is much of an audience. Anyone out there? …Anyone?

I guess like anything in life, moderation is best. Followers keep going up, so I must be doing something right? Wish me luck! These bees are getting dangerously close to my face.
