A Time to Die, The Next 1000 Miles, Upcoming

Save Up Your Pennies!

Good afternoon, let’s jump right into it!

Next Friday, A Time to Die will be going to the editor. From there, it shouldn’t take longer than a couple of weeks before I have my final draft back. From that point, it’ll jump right into the lap of a formatting artist and finally, a revised full cover piece from my cover artist to wrap it all up.

What’s that mean for you?

Well, if all goes according to plan, there will be a final installment of the Legend of Carter Gabel series in your hands in less than a month!!

I will of course keep you more up to date as the weeks progress along this last slide into home base. But, as we know, occasional downfalls occur. And with them, things could get hinky.

Hinky = Effed Up, without making grandmothers cringe.

What will happen from there? I can only hope good things. I have a lot of pots on the stove cooking, in terms of new reading. I need everyone’s help in making sure I can serve them up though. If I go Indie, that’ll be a long time to wait at the pace I’ve set. But, the more and more people’s hands my book gets into, the better chance I have of delivering stories.

Sooooooo, share your thoughts out there with a review if you haven’t already! Or tell a friend looking for a good book. Or if you didn’t like it, donate your copy to a teen group like Boys Club or Girls Inc or your local library.

Indies thrive off of word of mouth and if we get enough help, you can be one of those people saying, I knew him when… I remember chatting with him once…. or I actually got to meet them before the movie ever got made! How cool will you be?

Sorry, no one’s as cool as BW

New Author ALERT!

Before I get to it, today marks my second WordPress anniversary! Woohoo!! Where’s the confetti and cake?? And… as far as presents, I have one for you instead. I sat down with author of the newly released Steampunk Dystopian novel, The Cogsmith’s Daughter, Kate M. Colby. We had a little talk about her processes, ideas and where it all came from. I hope you have a chance to listen and/or watch.

A Time to Reap, The Next 1000 Miles

Dream a Little Dream

As an author, November has by far been my worst month. A steady flat-line has plagued my sales report all month. From the last sale on Halloween to today, not a thing. It’s distressing and humbling, making me question a lot of what I’m doing right and what I’m doing wrong. Mainly, my largest fault is my impatience, followed closely by imagination.

We’re all our own worst critics, but there has to be a time when it becomes clear once again that our writing is basically wonderful. Maybe we have some grammatical kinks to iron out or some issues with flow, but in all, we’ve written a story. A STORY! Think to yourselves about a friend or family member who has a dream and if they achieve it or even try to. Have they? Well, I have. Soon to be twice!!

The point is, for all of the negative feedback, the criticism and growing pains associated with my writing, I achieved a lifelong goal. And the age old question of what now has loomed above. We all want our stories to do well, but alone, without an agent, a publishing house or it being a full-time job, what can be expected? Lightning doesn’t strike when and where you want it. I must learn to dream big, expect small and hope for whatever should happen, will happen.

In the giving spirit, I have a book giveaway happening right now on Goodreads, feel free to put your name in and hopefully you’ll become one of the lucky ones! It runs until the 16th of December and is absolutely free and anonymous. Another item I plan on doing is what I’d like to hope as the Pay it Forward method.

I am going to give three digital copies away. One on WordPress, one on my Facebook Page and one on my Twitter page. It’s first come, first serve. I’ll gift it to your Kindle with no real expectations or obligations. My hope, if you enjoy the book, try to Pay it Forward. Gift a copy, or three, to someone you know that might like it. If you don’t, I understand, it’s a gift for $1.29. No harm no foul. So, be the first to respond and I’ll get in touch with your info and you have a free book. My Merry Christmas to you!

And if you’re still debating to start on a dream of your own, my only advice is to start now. There will always be another dream waiting.

A Time to Reap

Dedication

As some who have read the very beginning of A Time to Reap may know, I have dedicated my first book to my mother. She was promised a book many, many moons ago (like thousands) and today is the official debut of the paperback version. It also just happens to be my mother’s birthday today!

So, in honor of my first book and my mother’s birthday, I am offering a giveaway in exchange for just a little bit of your help. For every person you refer to my FB Page I will enter you into drawing for a free, autographed copy of my book. Yes, I will even ship it or deliver it directly to you (depending on location)! Sadly, this can only be for the continental US and Canada. You oversees people are too rich for my blood at this point.

Remember, each person you enter gets you a vote. Each person who likes the page or follows me between now and August 27th will also be entered. Just message me with the phrase “Happy Birthday” and the names of your peeps and we’ll collect them to draw.

Is that all? Wait! There’s more, for every 50 likes, I will draw for a second book. So if I get 51, two people will get a copy. If I get 101, three people will be drawn and so on. If you win and already have a copy, give yours to a friend or family member! Cause now you’ll get one signed!! Click below to start right away.

A Time to Reap

Hmmm, What Should I Buy?

THAT…is an excellent question. For most people, Friday screams payday! And I am certain that as most people, bills have to be handled and then you’re left over with some savings and “fun money.” You may not even realize what you want to buy.

Let me start off by saying this is an obvious ploy for me to persuade you to buy my book. Given. BUT, it is also an opportunity to realize how beneficial it would be. So, with that said, look at what costs more than my book:

  • Blended Coffees & Juices (Starbucks): Tall (which is small…) $3.25
  • Gallon of Milk: $3.48
  • Gallon of Fuel: $3.59
  • Meat (ground beef/steak/bacon/etc.) per pound: $3.38-5.33
  • Movie Ticket: $5 – 10
  • Tip on a Dinner Date: $4 – 15

See? I am willing to bet if you paid cash and kept the change from your ventures this weekend, you could afford my book. That said, it will last longer, never spoil, you could always re-gift/re-sell AND if you wanted the paperback and got it autographed, it would actually be worth more money down the road. Crap, I’m practically making you money with these offers.

But seriously, if you would like to pick up the book, you would ensure its sequel and continue to help my dreams to become a reality. Just click on the link in the picture below!

A Time to Reap

For Just Pennies…

Take a moment and think about the following story.

This is Jeffrey – Jeffrey S. Lee

He was born with a rare disease, called Dog Ear Disorder. Normally, these abnormalities occur internally from book to book. But Jeffrey was born out of the shipping box this way. It’s a crease formed went a page (or in this case, cover) is bent for extended periods of time.

Although Jeffrey’s case is unfortunate, he has the best outlook towards his long and fruitful life. Follow along as Jeffrey and I take on the world one page at a time. Look forward to more pictures with Jeffrey in the future.

If you yourself would like to adopt a book in need, please click on the link provided. For what amounts to just pennies a day, cases like Jeffrey’s can be overcome. There are countless numbers of these books simply looking for good homes with a Kindle, a Nook or any various e-Reader. Soon, they will be needing shelves or a coffee tables to rest upon.

Adopt a Jeffrey today. Save that mocha latte for tomorrow. CLICK HERE

All You Do is Pitch, Pitch, Pitch

Okay, so it’s more of a description because I’m not using this to pitch my book to anyone. But, the pun from the title doesn’t work otherwise.

If anyone reading this could spare 2 minutes. I am rounding the corner on things I can do to my nearly published book until editors are finished with it. I am looking into what to put on the back cover. Mostly, this is where my brain turns to oatmeal, bland and lumpy. I need some ideas on how to put some brown sugar in it. Can you read it and let me know your honest thoughts?

Carter isn’t your typical teenager. In fact, none of the students at Pemberton Academy are typical since all have suffered from or witnessed acts of temporal displacement or telepathy. Carter is a Leaper, someone who has a condition called Chronological Displacement Syndrome, and is prone to spontaneously traveling back in time. His most recent leap unwinds his sense of reality as he learns there is more to his condition than time travel. Mo, a fellow classmate and telepath, joins him on a fast moving journey to learn about their abilities full potential while uncovering secrets along the way. They will reveal what happened to Carter’s father, the background of the trainer assigned to teach them the depth of their abilities and what happens to some of the senior kids after they graduate. Their excitement reaches a pinnacle once Hunters discover that there is more to them than meets the eye. And on top of that, their school is not all that it seems.
