Ok, so this is my first official blog. Not as an author, as in ever. So, this should go right along with my experience of sharing all of the steps along my journey toward becoming a published author; the keyword is published.
So, where should I begin? Well, let’s make this post related to getting to know me as many who initially read this will already be friends, but there are the hopeful masses of new followers who have no clue. I started writing when I was in grade school. I can still recall the English assignment of writing a story and mine involved car chases, terrorists and lots of action sequences (I was in a very spellbound Die Hard phase). Since then, I had dabbled into the areas of Creative Writing and making little short stories. It wasn’t until one day in my latest teens that I decided that I was going to give my mother a Christmas gift; a story by myself.
Ok, so many, many moons later, I realized 4 solid principles:
1) Novels are much better in your head then on the paper
2) I am my own worst critic
3) M&M’s help my concentration
4) No matter what, never “take a break” from writing
Since that time, more so over the past 5 years, I have tried to be committed to my writing as I could. In the last year, I have completed at least one main chunk that will begin as my flagship book (fingers crossed). What’s it all about? you may ask. Well, I plan on sharing that and everything else that I find out through my travels of trying to get published in the coming weeks.
If you are anything like me, you are probably wondering why would I want to follow along and read a blog? A BLOG of all things? Well, I don’t have a great answer for you there. My initial instincts on blogs are what I remember when they first started becoming popular (which is not very flattering). But, I can tell you this: I plan on treating this blog like my own personal diary as an author. You’ll see my thoughts, my triumphs, my failures and all of the spices that make up my own unique thought process along the way. So… whether you follow this closely or not, I plan on letting this be like literary therapy. I will, in a sense, act like no one is truly reading this. So, who knows what my wind up here.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you. You might be my only fan.
Anyhow, more to come. Next time I plan on divulging the basis of my novel, as well as the Colonel’s secret recipe. Until then!
